“I am a hometown girl who grew up in Cambria. I was motivated to choose a career in physical therapy after hearing an inspiring physical therapist talk about her work while I was still in high school. As an athlete, I was persuaded to go into athletic training during college. It seemed like a good fit with my passion for cycling, which took me to the Olympic Trials in 1984 as a competitor on the U.S. cycling team. During my coursework at Cal State Long Beach, I completed an internship in physical therapy and that is when I decided it was indeed my first choice in a career.
“What I really enjoy most is the diversity of my clients. Anyone, of any age, can suffer an illness or injury that requires physical therapy. My older clients are much more experienced in life. They have great stories to tell. I have a passion for helping older adults cope and even thrive with some of the effects of aging. We can all be vital into our golden years.
“I'm fortunate to work with colleagues who have attained the highest level of training in physical therapy – a doctorate – along with therapists who have years of experience. With the latest scientific treatment methods and the experience of working with many different types of patients, I believe we can help anyone who wants to achieve a better quality of life.”

“I have worked in a variety of hospitals and outpatient settings, providing treatment to a wide array of clients. I decided to pursue my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree because it emphasizes a scientific, evidence-based approach to treatment. My earliest experiences included volunteer work with geriatric inpatients. I have experience in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation. And like my colleagues, I like to stay current on new treatment strategies through continued education and observation of other healthcare professionals. I really believe my clients deserve to benefit from the latest advances in physical therapy.”
